Virginia Street Bridge

The Virginia Street Bridge project included demolition of the former historic bridge, an earth-filled, reinforced concrete, dual-arch structure spanning the Truckee River, and the construction of a new, reinforced concrete, rigid frame, bowstring truss bridge. The project also added a river access plaza adjacent to the main City Plaza to increase recreational use of the Truckee River. I led the communications effort, in collaboration with community partners such as Q&D Construction. The bridge replacement project culminated with a grand opening ceremony and celebration in April 2016. It was estimated that about 1,000 citizens and city and state officials attended the Virginia Street Bridge event in downtown Reno.
